Unexpectedly the 6-items-or-less challenge continues – Chrissy
(An update from my South East Asia holiday)
Just over a month ago I left Wellington and moved to Vancouver, sadly leaving Sarah and Inga to run The Big Shwop without me… On the way I made a stop-over in Sth East Asia to soak up some sun before heading into another winter – however not everything went as planned. And so I thought I’d write in with this little update of my adventures there.
When packing for my move to Vancouver with a 5 week stop-over in South East Asia the last thing I had imagined was arriving in 30 degree Laos with only the dress I had on, and my hand luggage… a suitcase full of entirely unsuitable winter city clothes.
But that’s exactly what happened. (more…)
Chrissy Week 3: 6 items or less
I have now completed three and a half weeks of the 6 items or less challenge…BUT… I’m sorry to say I had a melt-down last Wednesday.
I’d just had a brand new haircut which I thought would give me a boost…but then I walked home up Brooklyn hill, arrived home with 3 of my items now sweaty, found one dress crumpled in the corner and other dress damp on the line, friends on their way over for dinner and I couldn’t stand it one second more. I went and put on a whole new outfit and…it felt sooo good! (more…)
Week two: Inga’s 6 Items or less challenge – Is less actually more?
So I have made it through week 2 wearing the same 6 items during my Six Items or Less Challenge with only a few (teeny tiny!) confessions to make, but some rather interesting revelations about our perceptions of image and the psychology of choice.
I must say it has proven quite a lot harder than I first thought! If you’ve spent a spring in Wellington you will be familiar with the ever changing weather that is totally impossible to predict or properly plan for. So when we were blessed with some lovely rare sunshine during the weekend I realised that my original 6 did not cater for anything remotely summery, so I was forced to drag out some shorts and a singlet that were not part of the selected 6. But never fear! I dutifully put them back in the drawer after the trip to the beach, ready for week 3 back with my beloved (and rather familiar) super 6!!
Here is a pic of the black Country Road dress that is getting a bloody good run for its money this month!
Wardrobe confessions
Undertaking the six-items-or-less challenge has led to a rather disturbing wardrobe discovery. Digging into the depths of my closet trying to figure out what I could wear for a whole month, I began to notice something…
Week One : Chrissy’s Six Items or less Challenge
As Inga mentioned in a previous blog, we have both decided to undertake the six items or less challenge – which means wearing nothing but the same 6 items for one month, not including underwear, shoes or jackets.
Why this madness? I feel strangely compelled to give it a go. At times I feel slightly claustrophobic when I look at my wardrobe. At times I spend a ridiculous amount of time putting on different outfits before I go to work.
So here goes!
Week One : Inga’s Six Items or less Challenge
OK so its the end of the first week of the Six Items or Less Challenge that Chrissy and I are embarking on for one month. And I’m very proud to announce that we have survived the first 7 days of wearing the same six garments!
